Copy Mode |
Smart Copy Mode |
Advanced Copy Mode |
Explanation |
Followers allow Master Traders to manage their portfolio risk with a fixed ratio of position and an optimized entry timing. The fixed ratio is calculated based on the Follower’s and Master Trader’s available balance. |
Followers can set the fixed margin for each copy trade on their own. Experienced users can select this mode to customize their order settings. |
For more information, please refer to Copy Trading Copy Mode and Parameters Settings.
Why does the Cum.Invested amount not tally with the amount I am currently investing in the Master Trader?
Cum.Invested amount refers to the total amount of investment deposited during the copy trading period. It includes the initial investment amount and any additional funds deposited into the account during the copy trading period.
To give you an example, if your initial investment amount was 100 USDT and you later deposited 500 USDT, the Cum.Invested amount would be 600 USDT. However, if you withdrew 500 USDT during the copy trading period, the Total Invested amount would remain at 600 USDT because withdrawals are not included in this calculation.
Leverage, Entry Price and Liquidation Related
How can I view my position's liquidation price?
You can go to My Copy Trading → User Center (Follower) → Master Traders → Details → Open Positions to check for the liquidation Price.
The Liquidation Price is derived based on the position with orders for the same trading pairs opened in the same direction consolidated. When the Mark Price reaches your Liquidation Price, the entire position will be liquidated. You are advised to set TP/SL orders in advance to manage the liquidation risk accordingly.
For more information, please refer to How to Navigate Copy Trading User Center (Follower).
How can I view my position's average entry price?
You can hover over Unrealized P&L to view their position's average entry price. Click on More Details to view the history of average entry price changes for positions.
Why was my position liquidated while my Master Trader’s position was not?
This could be due to several reasons below:
1. Leverage. When Follower uses a higher leverage than the Master Trader’s, the risk of liquidation for the Follower’s position is higher as the liquidation price will be nearer to the entry price.
2. Average entry price. The average entry price of the Follower’s copied trades may not be the same as the Master Trader due to the slippage or failed copy.
Why am I seeing different leverages applied to my position and the Master Trader’s position after selecting the leverage option "Follow Trader's Leverage"?
Please note that if you have insufficient balance, you may fail to copy the changed leverage by your Master Trader.
For example,
At time A: Master Trader A opened an entry order with 20x. Follower B copied.
At time B: Master Trader A changed the leverage from 20x to 30x. Follower B copied.
At time C: Master Trader A opened an entry order with 30x. Follower B copied.
At time D: Master Trader A changed the leverage from 30x to 10x. Follower B's leverage remains at 30x as his available balance is not enough to fulfill the new margin requirement.
At time E: The position was closed by Master Trader at leverage 10x. The Follower's leverage will be closed and displayed as 30x.
What should I do to align my leverage with a Master Trader’s if I fail to copy the leverage change from the Master Trader due to insufficient margin?
Followers can increase the investment amount to the Master Trader and once there is new trading action made by Master Trader such as new order placed or leverage adjustment, the leverage will be auto-aligned. However, if there is no new trading action made by Master Trader, the system will not auto-update the leverage change for followers. In this case, you can align your leverage manually with the Master Trader’s latest leverage by going to the respective Master Trader Copy Trading Settings and clicking on Configure Settings. This will allow the system to recheck your available margin and reconfigure the leverage.
Why can’t I set up a Trailing Stop?
Trailing stop is not supported when you select the trading bot to copy. It is only supported for USDT Perpetual Trades in Copy Trading.
P&L Related
When will my Perpetual Copy Stop Loss (PCSL) be triggered?
The PCSL will be triggered when your Total Equity with the respective Master Trader in your Account Overview reaches the equity level set based on your PCSL amount or percentage (%). For example, the set PCSL amount is 400 USDT, and the current equity is 1,000 USDT. When the equity drops to 600 USDT, the PCSL is triggered and all your positions under the respective Master trader may be closed immediately at the current market price or continue to copy the trader until the positions are closed, depending on your selection. Once you have canceled copying the Master Trader, the PCSL value will be reset and recalculated if Followers follow the Master Trader again.
Notes:
— Please note that the PCSL (Perpetual Copy Stop Loss) will only measure the real-time total of realized PNL (Profit and Loss) + unrealized PNL arising from USDT Perpetual trades as the criterion for triggering PCSL. Changes in equity resulting from profit sharing and Trading Bots will not be included in the calculation. Therefore, when PCSL is triggered, investors may potentially recover an amount less than the estimated equity level displayed on the UI.
— The PCSL calculation will be refreshed based on the current equity upon PCSL settings configuration.
— When you adjust your investment amount, the equity level that triggers your PCSL will be changed accordingly.
— When you reduce your investment to an amount lower than the PCSL set, your PCSL will be deleted and you will need to reset your PCSL.
When will my Trailing Stop be triggered?
The Trailing Stop automatically adjusts your exit point based on your account's highest recorded equity.
For example, if your equity fluctuates between 500, 450, 600, 900, 800, 1,000, and 800 at different points throughout the week, and you set a 20% retracement rate, your exit equity will be 400, 400, 480, 720, 720, 800, and 800, respectively.
When your account equity drops to 800, matching the exit equity, the Trailing Stop will trigger, closing all positions at the market price, and your Copy Trading will be terminated. Please note that due to slippage, your final account equity may differ from the exit equity.
Failed to Copy and Unfollow Related
What are some of the reasons why Followers fail to follow Master Traders?
Here are a few of the common reasons:
-
The maximum number of Followers allowed by a Master Trader has been reached.
-
The Master Trader you’ve selected has been removed.
Will Followers automatically copy all existing open positions of their Master Traders once they have copied the Master Trader?
No, please note that only trades that are created after the followers copy the Master Trader successfully will be copied. Moreover, there is no guarantee that all trades will be copied successfully due to several reasons such as insufficient funds.
Why are Followers unable to follow certain trades from their Master Trader?
If Followers aren’t able to follow a copy trade, it could be for one of several reasons:
-
The Follower’s Copy Trading Classic Account has insufficient funds to copy.
-
The maximum copy trades quota of the Master Trader has been reached.
-
The slippage for the copy order has exceeded the maximum slippage allowed set by Followers. For example, the maximum slippage per order set is 1.8%. If the market price of the copy trade order has exceeded 1.8% of the entry price of the trade initiated by the Master Trader, it will not be copied. There may be slight variations due to price fluctuations.
-
The maximum position margin per contract or the maximum daily limit set by the Follower has been reached.
-
The follower has enabled Bybit Copyguard (Smart Copy Mode). This may also prevent Followers from following copy trades if the entry price is worse than the one entered by the Master Trader. Trades that are not copied due to Copyguard are not considered as failed copy trades and will not trigger the automatic unfollowing.
Under what circumstances will Followers auto-unfollow their Master Trader?
When Followers fail to copy their Master Trader's trades 20 times consecutively due to insufficient order cost, or fail to copy trades for 100 times within 24 hours (starting from the first failed order), the system will auto unfollow their Master Trader provided no positions are open.
Insufficient order cost may be caused by the following:
-
Insufficient balance in the Copy Trading Classic Account.
-
The order cost and leverage set by Followers cannot meet the minimum order size. As long as Followers still hold any open position, Followers will not auto-unfollow their Master Trader. Followers will be notified by email when their trades are not copied, or when they’ve triggered the auto unfollow.
-
Followers are removed by their Master Trader from his follower base via the Follower Whitelist feature.
Order Limits
What is the maximum leverage for Copy Trading Classic?
The maximum leverage is different for each trading pair. You can check the maximum leverage for each pair from the Parameter Set Up → Leverage Settings → Custom Leverage.
Is there a limit to the amount a Follower can invest?
Max. Fixed Margin (Per Trade) |
Max. Cumulative Order Value (Per Trading Pair) |
According to Master Trader’s Rank |
300,000 USDT |
The maximum cumulative order value refers to the maximum order value of long and short positions per trading pair that a Follower can follow.
For example, Follower A set the order cost at 2,000 with 10x leverage. The maximum cumulative order value is 300,000 USDT. When the Master Trader opened 15 orders, the 300,000 USDT quota is hit (2,000 x 10 x 15). Any new order placed by Master Traders will not be followed until any order is closed, and the quota is freed up.
Fixed margin refers to the order cost set for each copy order by the Follower. The amount of minimum and maximum fixed margin per trade depends on the following Master Trader’s rank.
For example, if your Master Trader is at Bronze level, then your minimum fixed margin per trade will be 10 USDT and the maximum fixed margin per trade will be 2,000 USDT.

Copy Trading Trading Bots Related
Why do Copy Trading Trading Bots and USDT Perpetual Trading support different USDT trading pairs?
The selection of underlying supported pairs is based on individual product evaluations and market liquidity analysis. We are actively working to expand our offerings, ensuring support for a wider range of USDT trading pairs across both Copy Trading Trading Bot and USDT Perpetual Trading.
Why isn't my copied trading bot visible on the Trading Bot home page?
Copied trading bots are associated with Copy Trading and can only be accessed through your User Center (Follower). Self-created trading bots, on the other hand, will be displayed under the main entrance of the Trading Bot. For more information, please refer to How to Get Started with Copy Trading (Follower).
How are the funds from my investment fund allocated to the copied trading bot?
The trading bot is consistently copied using Smart Copy mode, which invests an amount in the copied trading bot based on a fixed ratio derived from the Master Trader’s order cost and available balance, or on the minimum investment amount required to create the bot, whichever is higher.
I have selected Advanced Copy Mode for USDT Perpetual Trades. Why does it not apply to my Copy Trading Trading Bot?
The advanced copy mode is only applicable to USDT Perpetual Trades. Trading Bots will be using Smart Copy mode in Copy Trading.
Why does my created bot have a different trading performance than the Master Trader's?
The entry of your trading bot might not be the same as the Master Trader's because followers can copy the Master Trader's existing bot despite it running for a certain period before you started copying. Additionally, the first entry order is a market order which can result in different executed prices due to slippage.
Why can't I see my entry price and liquidation price in my copied trading bot?
Followers do not have visibility into the specific parameter setup of the copied trading bot. However, followers have the flexibility to set TP/SL orders for the copied Trading Bots or manually terminate the bot. Withdrawing profits from the running Trading Bot is currently not supported.
Why do Followers fail to copy certain trading bots from their Master Trader?
If Followers aren’t able to copy a Master Trader’s bot, it could be for one of the following reasons:
-
Followers did not enable Copy Existing Bots, hence bots created by Master Trader before a Follower started copying the Master Trader will not be copied.
-
Market conditions have changed significantly after the Master Trader initially created the bot, and the market is no longer suitable. In such cases, the Bots will not be copied. For example, the entry price of the follower’s position created by the copied trading bot will be worse than the Master Trader’s. In this case, the Master Trader’s trading bot will be deemed as not suitable to be copied.
-
Followers have insufficient funds to copy the bot.
You can refer to the Reason for Termination of your Bots under the User Center → Bots → Terminated Bots.
Why does my Trading Bot get terminated when I set up a Trailing Stop on my Copy Trading Settings?
Trailing Stop is only supported for USDT perpetual trades in Copy Trading. When you set up a Trailing Stop after you have copied a Master Trader, any existing copied bot will be automatically terminated at the market price.
